Sussex Art Fair – What To Expect?

SussexArtFairs

Who are we?
With so many art fairs and exhibitions popping up around the Country in cities like London, Brighton and beyond, it can seem daunting knowing where to start looking to either buy or exhibit art so we thought it would be a good idea to help our visitors and artists make an informed decision on why to visit, buy and/or exhibit with us at Sussex Art Fair. We also know the UK art calendar is a busy place, and we want to make sure you’ve got our next event scheduled in so you don’t miss out on our amazing artists and artwork on display!

What visitors can look out for
Our event provides a unique experience for the residents of East and West Sussex and further afield as visitors can view artwork produced by local, national and international Independent artists all under one (albeit large!) racecourse roof.

Tickets for weekend visiting are affordably priced at £6.00 per person and being family friendly, entrance is free for children up to the age of 12. We want to make sure everyone feels welcome, excited and inspired to view the exceptional and affordable art on display so we carefully plan the layout, making sure the art at each stand is complimentary to the art on stands nearby. We also hand select all exhibitors to ensure our art fair has a lot to offer in terms of quality, variety and style of work. Visitors can also chat with the artists to learn more about the artwork as all exhibitors will be on hand to discuss their creations.

Sussex Art Fair will also include a wall of ‘Mini Masterpieces’ at our partner charity stand: Sussex Wildlife Trust to include small but beautiful original paintings that have been donated by our exhibiting artists and sold by the charity. Anyone can buy an individual work for £50 knowing that 100% of the proceeds will go to the charity so they can continue their mission of preserving our rich and wonderful Sussex nature and wildlife. The buying public has so far raised over £4,000 at our previous 3 events and we hope our future art fairs will raise more as visitors will know in advance that owning a beautiful work of art can also help preserve the inspiring environment around us.

Throughout the fairs, there will be drinks and light refreshments served all day. At Sussex Art Fair, visitors can come knowing it is a lovely day out on their own or with family and/or friends, being inspired by and enjoying the beauty of art, surrounded by an uplifting community of art lovers and makers alike.

Collectors
For those who are experienced collectors or who are looking to start collecting art, then Sussex Art Fair is the ideal place to find that one (or two or three!) pieces of artwork to invest in. The purchase price of artwork starts at £50 for prints and small originals and goes up to a maximum of over £3,000 for a handful of masterpieces by more established artists, so something for every budget. By curating each individual exhibitors’ artwork, online presence, and sales and exhibitions history, we help make the buying experience better for everyone because there really is something to cater for all tastes, budgets and collections. The provenance of buying work from our fair will allow our exhibitors’ works to speak for themselves.

Available to buy will be landscape and abstract paintings, photographic and digital art, ceramics and glass sculptures, portraiture and animal art, plus a few exhibitors who produce work which defy labels, meaning buyers will find that exact piece that matches their criteria plus provides them with the excitement of seeing a work that speaks to your heart.

Exhibitors
Sussex Art Fair is open primarily to independent artists and is free to apply for. Those selected will be able to showcase their artwork to a whole new demographic of the residents of Sussex and the neighbouring counties. Stand prices are competitive with other art fairs, beginning at 3 linear metres and increasing in size up to 8 linear metres, so there are stands to suit all budgets.

When applying exhibitors get to select their preferred stand choices, so as to be able to exhibit in their most desired position (if available), and are offered the stand which most suits their artistic countenance.

As Sussex Art Fair does not make any deductions from sales, the exhibitors will keep 100% from their sale proceeds, making it a profitable fair for artists and buyers alike knowing everyone is getting the best deal possible. (We can also take payments on behalf of exhibitors for a low commission of 10%).

Our professional wrapping station is manned by our partners artPAKK ‘choose to reuse’. Along with our recyclable bubble wrap and brown paper, artPAKK will be offering exhibitors and customers the chance to purchase their reusable artPAKK bags that are great for protecting art in transport and storage and ensure we are providing a quality service from an environmentally aware business.

We also continue our partnership with Cass Art, the UK’s leading art products supplier and are able to provide special offers to our exhibiting artists for all purchases made through their website.

We are thrilled to be working with so many reputable and conscientious brands and partners and our hope is to inspire buyers and artists alike to enjoy and engage with art in their homes and at our fairs. We dream of a world, where as many households as possible find the joy and reward of owning original art created by contemporary artists, and we welcome everyone to fulfil this dream with us at Sussex Art Fair!
